CODS/EDCOE - NGSS Teacher Outdoor Education Experience
Coloma Outdoor Discovery School (CODS) in partnership with the El Dorado County Office of Education is facilitating a teacher outdoor education experience. Over the course of two days, teachers will have the opportunity to explore science topics in an outdoor setting, while learning how to link the Next Generation Science Standards to the classroom. Workshops include:
Keynote Speaker: Kimberly Petree on Incorporating Storytelling into your Science Classroom
Scientific Journaling for your classroom
Hands-on inquiry learning activities
Engineering Construction Challenges
Round Table Discussion—applying NGSS to your classroom
How to incorporate Environmental Principles and Concepts into your classroom
Participants will have the opportunity to test their skills on the rope course, gold panning and raft down the American River (available through W.E.T. for additional fee).
