SIPPS - Beginning & Extension
This training is designed for teachers who will use SIPPS as a supplemental phonics support or intervention tool. Training includes specific instruction on the use of the SIPPS reading program. The Beginning and Extension Levels will be covered during the training.
This session is for teachers who work with non- readers or students that know some letters, sounds, and sight words. We will practice instructional strategies for:
Concepts of print
Phonological awareness: blending and segmentation
Initial phonics consonants, consonant digraphs, and short vowels
High-frequency sight words: both regular and irregular
This session is for teachers who work with students who know at least 50 sight words and are able to read and spell simple short-vowel-pattern words. We will practice instructional strategies for:
Phonological awareness: segmentation and manipulation
Phonics: Beginning with consonant blends and final e, then moving on to vowel digraphs, r controlled vowels, and generalizations for c and y
High-frequency irregular sight words
Registration will close two weeks prior to training.
Cancellations received two weeks prior to the date of the training are eligible for a refund.
